In-form Dalgleish, who won the first two races at Carlisle on Monday, said: “The horses are in great form and long may it continue. We’ve made a decent enough start to the season but it’s always nice to have winners at your local track – especially one as nice as this. I think I’ve had two or three trebles before including one at Kempton.

“We have quite a few two-year-olds and it was nice to see Angel Rosa go in first time. She is quite sharp and knew her job and did it very professionally.

“I was delighted to see Rawaafed win as that was him losing his maiden tag. Graham also did a good job on Salvatore Fury as that was also his first win.”

Jim Goldie made it four Scottish wins on the card when A Southside Boy carried bottom-weight to comfortable success in the 1m 4f handicap under Andrew Elliott.

• Apprentice jockey James Rogers will not be allowed to reapply for his licence until 13 February, 2014 after testing positive for alcohol and attempting to switch his urine sample with someone else’s.

Rogers asked a weighing-room colleague to provide a sample for him at Nottingham last October, after being selected for random testing. Rogers later confessed to his actions after arousing suspicions but he has refused to name the jockey who provided him with a substitute sample.
