Fan's monkey gestures cost him £300 fine
A FOOTBALL fan was fined £300 for making monkey gestures at a black Hearts player during a crunch SPL match at Tynecastle.
Jamie Whyte, 17, was seen by police making the racist actions during his team Aberdeen's 1-1 draw in Edinburgh earlier this month.
He was also spotted mouthing the word "monkey" at the player before being carted off by police officers on May 6.
The teenager was thrown out of the ground and missed his team's vital last-minute equaliser, which gave the Dons the upper hand in the fight for a UEFA Cup place.
There were two black players in the Hearts team that day - Ghanaian Laryea Kingston and Senegalese Ibrahim Tall.
Yesterday, Whyte, of Portlethen, Aberdeenshire, admitted the racially aggravated breach of the peace at Edinburgh Sheriff Court.
Sheriff Isabella McColl described the act as "grossly offensive".
