One of Scotland’s most famous ospreys has embarked on her 3,000 mile migration to Africa with her brood of three chicks expected to follow in the next two weeks.

Osprey Lassie has attracted thousands of visitors to the Scottish Wildlife Trust’s Loch of the Lowes Wildlife Reserve near Dunkeld, Perthshire, since she returned for this year’s breeding season on 18 March.

But she has not been seen since Thursday and is believed to taken advantage of good weather to start her annual journey to Western Africa.
