Family in 11th-hour reprieve
A PAKISTANI family due to be deported from the UK were yesterday given a last-minute reprieve as a judicial review was granted, church leaders said.
Asad and Gullrukh Gul and their three young children were due to be deported last night.
The family, who worshipped at Carnwadric Church and were members of Glasgow's Asian Christian Fellowship, fled Lahore because of persecution from Islamist extremists. A Church of Scotland spokesman said the Guls were being held at Heathrow Airport when their lawyer phoned with the news.
They are believed to have been granted an 11th-hour judicial review by the Home Office.
Campaigners now hope that the family can be bailed from the Yarl's Wood detention centre and returned to their home in Scotland.
