Family raises hospital funds
THE family of a man with kidney problems has raised more than £5000 for the hospital department he's worked with for 30 years.
Ronnie Colbron – who has had two unsuccessful kidney transplants – has been undergoing haemodialysis for 29 years at home with the help of NHS Lothian's renal unit at St John's Hospital and the ERI.
His wife, Mags, decided to recruit extended family and friends to walk the West Highland Way to generate cash for the hospital, where she is employed as an administration worker.
Of the walk, Mrs Colbron said: "Some days were tough, but we just thought about why we were doing this. I personally thought about all Ronnie has had to cope with over the years and it gave me a boost to keep going. It was one of the best experiences of my life."
