Fallen para's name added to medics' Wall of Honour

THE name of fallen paratrooper Mark Wright GC is to be included on the Wall of Honour at the Royal Society of Medicine in London.

Cpl Wright, from Dalkeith, died in 2006 when he was killed by a mine while trying to save fellow troops in a minefield in Afghanistan.

He was nominated for the honour by mother-daughter doctor team Helen and Francesca Lee-Masom, who met his parents, Bob and Jem Wright, at a fundraising dinner.

Helen said: "My daughter was very much impressed by his courageousness and his humanitarianism in saving others while he himself was mortally wounded. It has made her take a much deeper interest in post-traumatic stress disorder."

Mr Wright said: "We're proud as punch that his humanitarian acts are being recognised."
