Your memories: Fab day to treasure forever

IT was a moment she would remember for the rest of her life - and one that had her school friends turning green with envy.

Carolyn Woodman was a fresh-faced 13-year-old from Muirhouse when she was asked by the manager of the ABC on Lothian Road if she would like to meet The Beatles.

It was April 29, 1964 and three weeks earlier Carolyn had queued for two days to secure front row tickets for the Fab Four's show. Days before the concert, the manager got in touch with her parents to see if she would like to meet the band and he didn't have to wait long for an answer.

"I got away early from Trinity Academy to meet them in the foyer of the ABC," says Carolyn, 60, who now lives in Hertfordshire. "I remember Paul lifted me up so I could sit with them on top of a kiosk. I like to think I was quite calm about the whole thing.

"They were really lovely and we chatted, I got their autographs and the girls at school were so jealous. I remember being annoyed though that my mum had made me wear my long hair tied up so it looked 'tidy' to meet them."
