Ex-convict demands prison because her house has no electricity

A WOMAN threatened to attack police officers and demanded to be sent back to prison – because her house had no electricity.

Jeanette Cairey, who had been released from jail just hours earlier, threatened to punch officers and smash up their cars in a bid to get arrested, Haddington Sheriff Court heard.

Following her release from Saughton Prison on Tuesday, Cairey had begun drinking heavily and arrived home to discover her house had no heating or light.

Police were called to a disturbance outside her home in Haddington, East Lothian, where she began to make the threats to officers and demanded she be sent back to prison.

Cairey, 43, was charged with a breach of the peace but continued to threaten to assault the officers throughout the evening.

She pled guilty to conducting herself in a disorderly manner and sentence was deferred.
