Events aim to raise suicide awareness
A SERIES of events are set to take place in West Lothian to mark Suicide Awareness Week, culminating in a memorial service for people whose loved ones have committed suicide.
West Lothian Community Health and Care Partnership (CHCP) is hosting a range of events this week to help target those at risk of suicide.
A half-day suicide alertness training course, SafeTalk, will take place at St John's Hospital in Livingston today.
It is open to anyone who wants to gain the skills to help recognise that someone may be suicidal.
The week will culminate with a memorial service at St Philip's Church in Dedridge on Sunday at 3pm for those who have been touched by suicide.
A range of information and advice will be available.
Last year, 20 people in West Lothian committed suicide.
