Event to look at Capital's disaster response

A FOUR-DAY event is to look at how Edinburgh would respond to a disaster and the nature of the main risks that face the city.

The third annual community resilience week, which starts on Monday, will bring together businesses, public agencies and the voluntary sector to discuss ways of being better prepared for significant disruption.

The city council, Lothian and Borders Police and Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce have organised the events, which will take place at various venues in the Capital.

The week starts with a council-led conference, bringing together experts from across the UK to discuss various aspects of keeping businesses operating.

Council leader Jenny Dawe said: "It's vitally important that businesses are aware of the emergencies - such as bad weather or security alerts - and the correct procedures to follow."
