Instant fines drop by 13%

THE number of “on-the-spot” antisocial behaviour fines handed out by Lothian and Borders Police has fallen by 13 per cent, new figures have shown.

A total of 698 of the £40 fines were issued by the force between April and June.

In Edinburgh, the issuing of fines fell from 409 to 357.

Officers in West Lothian issued 52 fines while their 
colleagues in East Lothian and Midlothian handed out a total of 163.
