A Scottish photographer captured a spectacular show of the Northern Lights earlier this week.

Ewan Miles took the incredible photo of the aurora over the Ardnamurchan peninsula, from the Isle of Mull.

Mr Miles said: “Green columns were rippling through the sky over Ardnamurchan peninsula, showing exactly why the aurora borealis is regarded as one of natures great events.”

The Northern Lights are a natural light display, normally seen in the high latitude Arctic and Antactic regions.

The Aurora Borealis have been seen in a number of places across Scotland, including Wick, Oban, the Isle of Lewis, Elgin and Kilmany in Fife.
