SCOTLAND’S skies were lit up by a spectacular light show last night, as yesterday’s heatwave was rudely interrupted by a midnight thunderstorm.
Loud rumbles of thunder and forked lightning was seen from Selkirk to Dundee as the hot weather gave way to stormy rain.
Edinburgh residents tweeted about the ‘incredible and noisy lightning show’ but some people said they hadn’t seen or heard a thing.
The best of the lightning struck between midnight and 1.30am.
However, the balmy heat and sunshine is set to give way to rain, with parts of Scotland set for downpours from the weekend.
