Government under fire over green tax

MPs today criticised the government for failing to clarify what counts as an “environmental tax” and set out a strategy for green taxation.

The Environmental Audit Committee said it had taken the government seven months to respond to its report calling for a definition of environmental taxes, set out what they were meant to achieve and elaborate on plans to alter taxation.

What am I getting for these taxes?.............................................. What am I getting for these taxes?.............................................. What am I getting........................................................................ What...............................................................................................What I want is a safe environment to live in, one where I have freedoms such as where and when I want to spend my money, not where someone else feels he has the right to determine where "he spends" my money, especially if its on something that I do not want. Scotland is heading for a solution just to the LEFT of Siberia...me thinks. Given the cost of green energy, there will be an inevitable desire for everyone to reduce their consumption and then they'll want to insulate their houses, or sell on, those that cost more to heat . So who will become the owners of these less insulated houses ? why it'll be the poorer house owners, who cannot afford the expensive power bills in the first place. If Govt wants to encourage insulation, do not use the Australian Labour party model... that was a fiasco by all accounts. However if Govt councils offered heavily subsidised insulating materials directly to house owners, there might be some uptake, and there may be costs benefits achievedon bulk purchases.

There is no such thing as a green tax. Taxes are taxes and the vast proportion of so called green taxes go nowhere near green issues. It's just tax, tax and more tax, till the pips squeek.

Scrap all green taxes, they are simply penalising British business for no good reason.
