Government under fire over green tax

MPs today criticised the government for failing to clarify what counts as an “environmental tax” and set out a strategy for green taxation.

The Environmental Audit Committee said it had taken the government seven months to respond to its report calling for a definition of environmental taxes, set out what they were meant to achieve and elaborate on plans to alter taxation.
