Fears for marine life
MARINE life is being damaged by increasing carbon dioxide emissions, researchers have said.
Scientists at Edinburgh University studying water-borne algae found that high levels of carbon in the oceans can make it grow faster, depending on where it lives. Marine animals which feed on algae may find such varieties less nutritious.
Dr Sinead Collins, who led the study, said: “We have a lot to learn about how marine life in different habitats will respond to climate change.”
