City litter wardens: Leith ‘one of the worst areas in city for litter’

THE proposals to deputise council workers to help clean up the city’s streets follow concerns about the state of the Capital.

While Keep Scotland Beautiful suggested that Edinburgh had a very good record, councillors admitted that litter was among the most common complaints from residents. And these latest plans come just days after it emerged extra staff and equipment were now being allocated to help improve the state of streets in Leith, which had been identified as one of the worst areas for litter in the Capital.

Four more staff for dustcarts and mechanical sweepers have now been assigned in Leith.
