Two baby meerkats have joined the gang at a safari park.

The pups were born around four weeks ago but only left their underground burrow over the last few days to join the rest of their family at Blair Drummond Safari Park near Stirling.

Keepers have named the boisterous pair Marti and Pellow after the lead singer of Wet Wet Wet, in recognition of the damp weather Scotland has had over the summer.

The sex of the two new additions will not be known until they are around four months old.

Sheila Walker, head of the animal collection, said the pups are doing well and have been out exploring their new surroundings and meeting the rest of the family.

She said their mother is currently being very protective and will not let the pups out of her sight until they are weaned in about three weeks’ time.
