Arctic protesters appear in court

EIGHT Greenpeace supporters, arrested after demonstrations at Shell petrol stations in Edinburgh on Monday, appeared at the city’s Sheriff Court yesterday to face charges of malicious mischief.

The protest was against the latest plans by the oil giant to drill in the Arctic.

No plea or declaration was made on behalf of the accused, who appeared in private.
