‘90% of bin collections were on time’

RESPONDING to widespread complaints about late bin collections, the city’s environment convener Cllr Lesley Hinds, said: “This is one of the biggest changes to collections in recent years and obviously we’ll have to give people time to get used to the new arrangements. It was anticipated there would be some difficulty and we have extra resources to cope with this. In the first week 90 per cent of waste collections were on time and we are working to deal with any outstanding issues.

“We would ask that residents with individual wheelie bins check their new bin calendars to make sure they’re putting out the right bin on the right day. However if people are experiencing problems we would ask them to get in touch on 0131 529 3030.”
