Tennant on list for best actor
SCOTS actor David Tennant has been nominated for best actor in a top theatre awards for his portrayal of Hamlet with The Royal Shakespeare Company – despite rarely appearing.
The Dr Who star has been nominated in the London Evening Standard awards for his role with the RSC in Stratford-upon-Avon and London.
Tennant, whose Hamlet caused a storm last winter, rarely performed in the role in the capital because of a back injury that required surgery. He appears in a category alongside Mark Rylance, Simon Russell Beale, Kevin Spacey and Ian McKellen
The annual awards will be presented on 23 November at the Royal Opera House in London.
