Susan Boyle gets a slice of immortality - in a pizza tribute
IN THE latest bizzare twist of the Susan Boyle story, the Scottish singing sensation is set to be flavour of the month - as a pizza.
The West Lothian warbler has been reinvented as "Olive Boyle", a tribute pizza made in her honour by bakers Sayers.
The bakery's product development chef Toby Thorogood said he was creating a new recipe for a pepperoni, olive and ham pizza when he had the inspiration for the picture pizza.
Toby said: "It was the grey-black olives and the oval dough shape that inspired me.
"There are photos of Susan Boyle everywhere and I started thinking how much she looks like a pizza with that round head of hers.
"So for a bit of fun, I just developed it but further.
"It's uncanny how much it looks like her and we just hope that our new range of pizzas are as successful as she is."
Large black olives were used for the frizzy hair, ham for the nose and bread dough balls for the necklace.
Pizzas are a new line for Sayers. The thin and crispy pizzas in three toppings are baked and sold in stores across the North West.
