Premiere for iconic global Scottish film
An “ICONIC” and “quirky” short film about Scotland receives it premiere today.
The film, Scotland The World Over, will be unveiled by culture secretary Fiona Hyslop before a Holyrood debate on the 2012 Year of Creative Scotland.
Ms Hyslop hailed the piece as a “fantastic showcase of Scottish creativity”.
The film is a social media collaboration of more than 1,500 people from around the globe. It was created using 715 images with a Saltire at the centre of them, all taken between St Andrew’s Day on 30 November and Burns Night on 25 January.
Ms Hyslop said: “Scotland The World Over is a fantastic showcase of Scottish creativity which has captured the imagination of more than 1,500 people at home and abroad.”
The initiative is being hosted by the online community blipfoto.com in partnership with Scotland.org. Joe Tree, chief executive and founder of Blipfoto, said: “From a Chinese school to an Inuit village and from Times Square to Bondi Beach, people around the globe have come together to help create an iconic, quirky and captivating short film that celebrates Scotland.”
The film can be viewed at scotland.org/scotland-the-world-over/ from 9am.
