Madonna and Guy Ritchie are granted a divorce
THE pop singer Madonna was granted a divorce yesterday on the grounds of her husband Guy Ritchie's "unreasonable behaviour".
Papers released by the court did not explain what that meant, but Madonna said in a statement that the behaviour by the film director was continuing.
What began with a fairytale wedding at Skibo Castle in the Highlands came to an end in the "quickie" divorce at the principal registry of the family division in High Holburn, London. The decree absolute will be issued in about six weeks' time.
Madonna said they had not lived together for six months. It is thought they have reached agreement on division of assets – Madonna is said to be worth 300 million, Ritchie 30 million. Custody of their sons Rocco, eight, and adopted David Banda, three, will be shared.
