Madonna visits family of stage collapse victim
MADONNA has visited the family of a man killed in France when part of a stage collapsed as it was being prepared for one of her concerts.
The mayor's office in Marseilles said the star visited the home of Charles Criscenzo, 52, who died in the incident.
She also visited two hospitals yesterday where some of those who were hurt are still being treated.
Charles Prow, 23, from Britain was also killed in the accident.
Madonna was due to play a concert at the Stade Velodrome in Marseilles last night, but it was immediately cancelled after the accident on Thursday, when a crane toppled over. One of those injured, an American, is in a serious condition, according to health officials.
The 50-year-old singer was met in Marseilles by city mayor Jean-Claude Gaudin.
Mr Gaudin said: "We are very touched that a singer of her stature and talent has demonstrated such extraordinary human qualities (with this visit]."
The star is not allowed to visit the Stade Velodrome because an investigation by French prosecutors into the accident – which could lead to manslaughter charges – has begun.
