Kiri Te Kanawa to perform swansong
DAME Kiri Te Kanawa is to retire from the stage after a glittering 40-year career.
The 65-year-old soprano said the strain of performing full operas was becoming too much, and her performance as the Marschallin in Richard Strauss's Der Rosenkavalier in Germany next April would be her last.
