'Just for fun': village to burn 27ft Katie Price effigy
THE Kent village of Edenbridge today unveiled the model for their bonfire night celebrity guy: tabloid regular Katie Price.
The 27ft-tall firework-filled effigy, complete with a replica of her generous cleavage, will go up in flames in front of more than 10,000 people at the village's famous bonfire night celebration on Saturday.
Dressed in a pink, low-cut top, the figure also features her wearing white jodhpurs and riding boots in acknowledgement of her passion for horses.
In one hand, she holds copies of OK!, Hello! and The Sun and in the other she grasps the heads of ex-husband Peter Andre and current flame, cagefighter Alex Reid.
Each year organisers at the Edenbridge Bonfire Society choose a topical, publicly-vilified celebrity figure to torch at the popular event.
Last year Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand were the focus of the fun following their shaming over obscene telephone calls made to Fawlty Towers actor Andrew Sachs.
Previous targets for the society have also included Saddam Hussein, John McCririck, John Prescott, and Diana, Princess of Wales' former partner, James Hewitt.
This year Brighton-born Price, 31, emerged as the only candidate after organisers deemed BNP leader Nick Griffin had already had "too much publicity".
Price, also known as Jordan, recently finalised a high profile split from Australian singer Andre.
Edenbridge Bonfire Society organiser Charles Laver said: "There wasn't anybody else in the frame apart from Jordan. We didn't want to do Nick Griffin because we felt he had had too much publicity already.
"Also, we are not a political organisation, we do this just for the fun of it and we didn't want to aggravate people too much by choosing someone like Nick.
"I'm pleased with the result and I'm sure others will be too."
