Gallaghers battle for best and worst

BICKERING brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher could have even more to argue about following this year’s NME Awards after they were nominated for Hero and Villain of the Year respectively.

Liam’s new band Beady Eye was also nominated for the Worst Band award, while his older brother picked up nods for Best Solo Artist, Best Album and Greatest Musical Moment – and he has already been revealed as this year’s recipient of the Godlike Genius Award.

Other contenders for Villain of the Year include coalition partners David Cameron and Nick Clegg, Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga. The Arctic Monkeys lead the field with seven nominations including Best British Band, Best Album and Best Track for The Hellcat Spangled Shalalala.

This year’s awards will be held at the 02 Academy in Brixton, south London, on 29 February.

The event will be hosted by comic Jack Whitehall.
