Drink-drive ban for TV couple's daughter

CHLOE Madeley, the daughter of TV presenters Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan, has been disqualified from driving for 20 months after pleading guilty to drink-driving.

The 22-year-old was arrested following a crash in London early on 16 August after her car clipped another vehicle, overturned and landed on its roof. She abandoned it and walked home.

Hendon Magistrates' Court heard yesterday that she had drunk two cocktails earlier in the evening and was almost twice the legal limit.

She had left the house in her car because she "urgently required the services of a 24-hour chemist in relation to female products", her solicitor said.

Sentencing Madeley, magistrate Clive Lewisohn said: "You exposed the public, including yourself, to considerable danger. There was an accident. Thankfully nobody was injured."

He ordered her to pay a total of 435, including 70 prosecution costs and 15 towards victims of crime.

She was told that if she takes a drink-drive rehabilitation course the ban will be reduced by a quarter.

Madeley thanked the court. But she refused to comment as she left the court.
