Drama award for Gillan
SCOTS actress Karen Gillan, who plays Doctor Who’s assistant, scooped Best Female Drama Performance at the 2012 National Television Awards last night.
Accepting her award Gillan, 23, whose exit from the show was announced recently, said: ““Hello, oh my good God, thank you so much, this means so much to me, this is amazing, but I am terrified right now.” Inverness-born Gillan added: “I will never have as much fun again.”
Gillan beat off competition from competitors including Suranne Jones (Scott & Bailey), Eve Myles (Torchwood) and Jaye Jacobs (Waterloo Road).
Matt Smith, who plays the Time Lord, won best Male Drama Performance.
The 17th annual awards were held at the 02 Arena in London.
