Enjoy scenery and get fit on Walking Week

KEEN walkers are being urged to get involved in West Lothian's third Walking Week later this month.

This event will be launched by the council's chief executive Alex Linkston at the Civic Centre on September 20, at 10am. The launch will be followed by a three-mile walk which will get under way from the Civic Centre at 10.45am, with walkers returning to the centre around an hour later. Booking for the walk is essential.

A number of free guided walks will take place until September 26.

Director of West Lothian Community Health and Care Partnership, Jim Forrest, said: "Just 30 minutes walking a day can make a dramatic difference to your health and wellbeing, and what better way to get out and about than by enjoying beautiful scenery."

Ellen Glass, Executive Councillor for Health and Care, added: "Whether you are an experienced walker or a total beginner, West Lothian Walking Week offers you the chance to learn about the area's history, make new friends and improve your health."
