I would like to thank Steuart Campbell (28 July) for highlighting Scottish Renewables’ new video, Renewables in Scotland: Adding Up to a Brighter Future, which contains information about the various benefits renewable energy is bringing to Scotland.
To avoid any potential confusion, it is not Scottish Renewables that claims electricity generated by renewables in Scotland displaced more than 10 million tonnes of carbon dioxide in 2012. This was stated by the former Conservative Energy Minister, Michael Fallon MP, in answer to a Parliamentary Question on 11 September, 2013. This piece of information, like everything featured in Scottish Renewables’ new video and accompanying infographic, is based on data from independent sources, such as the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC), the Energy Saving Trust, Local Energy Scotland and National Grid.
