Ending misery more humane

DANI Garavelli (Scotland on Sunday, 17 March) posed the question: “What gave this GP the right to decide on life or death?” The obvious answer is “The same authority which gives GPs and other members of the medical profession the right to unnecessarily prolong the misery and death agonies of people suffering from incurable diseases”. Dr Iain Kerr’s interpretation of his authority seems infinitely more humane.
