Elderly hit by roofing scam in Glasgow
THE public have been warned to beware a "cold calling" scam.
Two men have targeted a number of elderly and vulnerable residents in the Bearsden and Milngavie area, near Glasgow, claiming to be from a roofing company.
The conmen insisted on upfront payment for materials and, after receiving the money - in one case, several thousand pounds - they left and did not return.
Detective Constable David Baillie said: This is a despicable crime targeting the old and vulnerable, and we would strongly urge residents not to hand over any monies to anyone who 'cold calls' at their door."
