Elderly welcome new scheme to encourage independence
FEEDBACK from a council project to encourage the frail and elderly to regain some independence has been overwhelmingly positive, a survey has shown.
The Re-ablement scheme, which was launched last year, sees people who require home care given more encouragement to walk, take on daily tasks and get out more.
The latest survey found that 92 per cent of those on the service had increased confidence, while the same number were "very satisfied" with the quality of service they were getting.
Councillor Paul Edie, the city's health and social care leader, said: "This feedback is extremely encouraging and shows that our commitment to helping people lead independent lives is paying dividends."
