University checks in to show off new style at Tartan Week

EDINBURGH Napier University's new tartan will feature in an exhibition celebrating Scottish textiles in New York.

The university is the only Scottish higher education institution to be represented at this year's Tartan Week.

Edinburgh Napier's new corporate tartan will also be showcased at the Scottish Development International event.

The university featured at the iconic Dressed to Kilt fashion show, where alumni Geoff Day hosted its delegation in his role as communications director at Mercedes Benz, which sponsors the event.

Saturday's Tartan Day parade also boasted input from Edinburgh Napier alumni, with engineering graduate Malcolm Halliday marching alongside his friends in the band Scocha.

Edinburgh Napier principal and vice chancellor Joan Stringer said: "It's a great honour and privilege to be representing Edinburgh Napier at such a high profile, international event and we are very proud to see many of our alumni taking part.

"Tartan Week is a great opportunity to put Edinburgh Napier on the global map and to forge further international relations."
