Two new professors appointed at UHI
A LEADING authority on Scottish culture and an international expert on ocean systems have been made professors by the University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI).
Hugh Cheape, an expert on museum collections, joined Sabhal Mr Ostaig, the Gaelic college in Skye, after a distinguished career at the National Museums of Scotland.
Toby Sherwin is a senior lecturer and reader at the Scottish Association for Marine Science UHI in Dunstaffnage, Argyll. His professorship recognises his contribution to physical oceanography.
The title of UHI professor has also been conferred on Professor Bob Cormack, the university's principal who is due to retire at the end at September, in honour of his service since 2001.
