Student fees helpline will extend hours

THE opening hours of a helpline for students still waiting on bursary and loan payments have been extended.

The Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS) is fielding inquiries from those who have not yet had their funding applications processed.

The Scottish Government agency has received more than 151,000 applications for bursaries and loans and, as of Wednesday, has dealt with around 145,000 of these.

SAAS said it is committed to ensuring all outstanding
applications are cleared by next week.

Latest figures show that 2,292 applications have been processed since Tuesday.

The helpline will provide a weekday service from 8am and will also open at the weekend.
