Storytelling course has a happy ending
THE first students to study a professional qualification in storytelling have successfully completed their course.
Newbattle Abbey College joined forces with the Scottish Storytelling Centre to offer Scotland's first ever SQA-validated storytelling qualification.
People working in areas such as education, social care, tourism and business were among those to sign up for the course to develop oral storytelling skills applicable in their day-to-day work.
One of the students, 48-year-old community learning worker Lea Taylor, from Midlothian, said:
"The course has been of immense help on a variety of levels. I have learned so much about what can be done with this wonderfully creative medium."
Donald Smith, director of the Scottish Storytelling Centre, said: "The students have gained the confidence to be creative, and leaned how the art of storytelling can make a real difference in many areas of society today."
