Staff and students urged to pick name for 'super college'

CHOOSING a name for Glasgow's "super college" is one of the challenges to staff and students in the city, as part of consultation on the project.

Published earlier this week, a report on the proposed merger of the Metropolitan College, Central College and Glasgow College of Nautical Studies was distributed to those occupying the current campuses.

It lays out the reasons behind the planned merger and outlines the combined institution's mission, vision and values, as well as the academic benefits and the curriculum.

The document was created by a team of senior staff from across the three colleges, under the leadership of Paul Little, principal of Central College.

He said: "I urge all our stakeholders to read over this document and to complete the consultation response form – it's a great opportunity for them to give us their views."

The consultation ends on 18 January. The responses will be added to the document and submitted to Holyrood.
