Schoolboys in charity drive

TWO West Lothian schoolboys have embarked on a fundraising campaign for a cancer charity.

Friends Stewart Muir and Stephen Oakes, both third year pupils at Whitburn Academy are raising cash for MacMillan Cancer Support.

They held spare-change day at the school on Friday to raise money for the charity and have also organised a ten-mile sponsored walk for Saturday.

The walk will take in Bathgate and Armadale and will finish with a lap of Whitburn Juniors' football ground.

After Stewart's grandfather, Andy Muir, died from prostate cancer last year, the friends decided to raise money for the cancer charity. They have also been talking to assembly classes at the school on how cancer can affect families and have made a DVD to illustrate their talk.
