School plan for £3m nursery moving ahead
PLANS for a new £3 million nursery at one of the Capital's private schools are making progress.
Richard Murphy Architects, in Old Fishmarket Close, Edinburgh, have released new details about the development.
The nursery, which is being built at the Edinburgh Academy, in Henderson Row, Stockbridge, is expected to be opened in 2008.
James Mason, associate at Richard Murphy Architects, said: "The new building is proposed to be located at the end of the existing car park space, thus visually enclosing the courtyard between the existing school and sports hall and providing a termination to the view on arrival at the school from Arboretum Road.
"The school itself is designed as a two-storey, steel-framed structure with a distinctive roof form.
"The after-school facilities will be located over those of the nursery. This allows the building to present a two-storey elevation to the courtyard side, in keeping with the scale of the existing school building."
