Report puts primary in good books
SCHOOL inspectors have praised the caring and committed attitude of staff at a city primary.
Following a recent inspection of Liberton Primary, Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Education (HMIE) reported there was a positive climate within the school and pupils were enthusiastic, well behaved and keen to learn.
The HMIE report also commented on high standards of pastoral care offered at the school and the effective procedures to ensure equality and fairness.
Liberton Primary headteacher Susan Laidlaw, who inspectors praised for her "very effective" leadership, said: "We are delighted the commitment of all our staff, the very good behaviour and motivation of our pupils and the high quality of education provided by the school have been acknowledged."
The inspection focused on key aspects of the work of the school at all stages with inspectors highlighting pupils’ "very good attainment" in reading.
City education leader Ewan Aitken said: "This is an excellent report for Liberton Primary School which pupils, staff and parents should be very proud of.
"I am impressed by the strong partnership between the parents, school board and community.
"This school has created a culture of aspiration that meets the needs of its pupils and provides an effective environment for learning."
