Pupils' CD hits high with cash for children

A GROUP of pupils who set up their own record label have donated their profits to a children's charity.

The S5 and S6 pupils at St Augustine's High School have presented 1150 to Radio Forth's Help A Child Appeal. The youngsters have had great success with their Enterprise Thru Music project.

They created record label Pebble Sounds and produced a compilation CD with songs from young, unsigned Edinburgh bands, including The Dials, The Debuts and Epic 26.

The Unsigned Edinburgh CD sold more than 300 copies, giving the pupils a favourable profit.

A spokeswoman for Pebble Sounds said: "Our CD planned to market local bands by giving them an opportunity to display their work as well as removing the stereotypical view of traditional Scottish music and making a healthy profit to donate to our chosen charity.

"The Pebble Sounds team feel they have successfully achieved these objectives with good feedback from customers and a 1150 donation."
