Pupils pick up top international award from newsreader George

TWO Lothians schools are celebrating after receiving an International School Award which was presented by broadcaster and journalist George Alagiah at a ceremony in London.

Knox Academy in Haddington and St George's School in Edinburgh have been rewarded for their work in bringing the wider world into the classroom through a range of international projects.

As part of their studies, pupils from Knox Academy took part in a mini United Nations session with contemporaries in Sweden.

Martin Davidson, chief executive of the British Council, said: "We believe that international links bring a vitally important dimension to the education of our young people."
