Napier and Abbey team up to recruit overseas graduates

EDINBURGH Napier University has joined forces with Abbey to allow the recruitment of post-graduate students from countries including Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Mexico.

The agreement will see the company – part of the Santander Group – provide financial support over the next three years for the recruitment of post-graduate students from the 11 countries operating in the scheme.

Under the terms of the agreement, Edinburgh Napier University students and staff will also be given the opportunity to apply for grants to study or conduct research in the countries covered by the scheme.

Funding will also be available to support a PhD cross-cultural research project as well as enterprise awards in the Business School's Moffat Centre.

Luis Juste, UK and Portugal director for Santander Universities, said: "Scotland is an attractive destination to overseas students, and we hope this programme will cement cross-cultural relationships and build partnerships."

As a member of the Santander Universities network, Edinburgh Napier University will be able to establish direct links to more than 700 participating universities, government organisations and educational institutions.

The university's principal, Professor Joan Stringer, said: "Businesses operate in a global environment and it is important that universities reflect this."
