Lessons in online safety for families

PARENTS and children can learn how to use the internet more safely at talks lined up for this month.

Teachers and police have set up the scheme to help make young people aware of the dangers of sharing personal information online.

Five Internet Safety and Responsible Use events will be hosted at secondary schools in the county.

Ollie Bray, depute headteacher at Musselburgh Grammar School, who will be leading the workshops, said: "Most young people are digitally literate and they have the knowledge to use technology and social networking spaces. However, they don't always have the wisdom to back up that knowledge and because of this they do not behave responsibly online."
