Galloway in rector bid
RESPECT MP George Galloway yesterday launched a campaign to stand for rector of the University of Edinburgh. The firebrand politician accepted his nomination from students and will fight in the election next month.
"I am honoured to have been nominated by students to run for rector of one of the country's elite universities," he said at the official launch in Edinburgh.
"I will be running my campaign unambiguously on the issue of Palestine."
He said a vote for him was a "vote for Palestine". He told students he would be an active rector, rather than a symbolic figure.
