Funds match pledge by Sir Tom

MULTIMILLIONAIRE Sir Tom Farmer has pledged £5,000 to a city high school – if it can raise the same amount.

Sir Tom, the founder of Kwik-Fit, offered the cash to Drummond Community High School to go to a project or charity of their choice.

The announcement came as he presented awards to pupils at the school's prize-giving.

He gave an inspirational speech to pupils, telling them to follow their dreams and get everything they want from life.

His cash pledge has come as a surprise to the school, and they have accepted the challenge to raise 5,000.

Headteacher Jon Reid said: "We didn't know he was going to say that so we were taken aback. We are absolutely up for it – what a terrific challenge and what a way to inspire and motivate kids.

"We will take an unusual approach to fundraising and do something entrepreneurial and use Sir Tom as a role model."
