Fife colleges to merge as part of money-saving policy

A NEW regional college is to be created by the merger of two existing institutions,it has been announced.

Adam Smith College and Carnegie College will form a new regional college for Fife, expected to open next August.

The two institutions are the latest to agree to merge as part of the Scottish Government’s regionalisation strategy, which calls on colleges to join forces to save money and end course duplication.

Irene Morrison, chair of the board of governors at Adam Smith College, said: “This is a historic decision that gives us a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to transform the tertiary education provision in Fife. It is an opportunity to be innovative and creative in shaping the future provision of education and skills development.”
